2008 Ford FG Falcon Ute (base model)
The entry-spec FG Falcon ute is available in either Cab Chassis or Styleside Box bodystyles and can be optioned with a choice of engines and transmissions.
In standard trim, the base level ute is powered by the I6 petrol engine, producing 195kW of power and 391Nm of torque. Power is put through a new six-speed manual transmission. The new five-speed automatic transmission with Sequential Sports Shift (SSS) is available as an option.
Buyers going for E-Gas dedicated LPG engine (option), will have to make do with the old-tried and tested four-speed automatic transmission with SSS.
Safety is taken care of by driver and passenger airbags, driver Beltminder® system and ABS with EBD. Side head/thorax airbags are available as part of an optional Safety Pack that will also equip the ute with a perimeter alarm system.
The base models doesn't get much in terms of luxury, cloth trim, a single CD audio system (with steering wheel mounted controls) with a new, larger Interior Command Centre (ICC) LCD screen fill the interior. Thankfully cruise control is standard and so is a four-way power driver's seat, power mirrors and windows.
